A secluded riverside camp with exceptional wildlife viewing
Kakuli is an intimate tented bush camp with spectacular views from its setting on the banks of the Luangwa River, at its confluence with the Luwi River. Located within South Luangwa National Park it takes its name from the local nickname for Norman Carr, a pioneer of walking safaris.
The camp has five spacious safari rooms, including a two-bedroom family room. All have private verandahs where you can relax on a hanging swing while taking in the peaceful scenery. The property sits on an elevated stretch of riverbank overlooking a wide grazing lawn that attracts plenty of game.
Spend time at the wildlife hide beside the lagoon, where you can watch animals gathering to drink. This area of the park is renowned for offering some of the best game viewing opportunities in Zambia, with chances to spot leopards, lions and carmine bee-eaters.
Head out on guided walking safaris or game drives to explore the riverine forests and open plains. After dark, the park comes alive with nocturnal predators. We especially recommend spending a night beneath the stars on a wilderness sleepout, listening to the sounds of the African bush.
