    Reykjavik Edition

Waterfront design hotel in the heart of Iceland’s capital
Modern bedroom at The Reykjavik Edition with a large window showing a waterfront view of Reykjavik, Iceland.

Boutique rooms combining Icelandic materials, Nordic design and destination dining

The Reykjavik Edition is located along the city’s old harbour beside the Harpa Concert Hall. You’re within walking distance of the city’s cultural centre and waterfront promenades.

Designed by Ian Schrager, who pioneered the boutique hotel concept, in collaboration with local architecture firm T.ark, The Reykjavik Edition brings together contemporary architecture and a strong sense of place. Materials such as lava stone, timber and textured plaster draw on Iceland’s natural landscapes. Its low, angular structure is designed to mirror the harbour’s geometry with large windows to frame views across the water towards Mount Esja and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Inside, the rooms feature a muted Nordic palette with grey ash floors, bespoke furniture and custom lighting that creates a calm, uncluttered vibe. The bathrooms feature grey stone finishes and deep soaking tubs. Some rooms have beds facing floor-to-ceiling windows, and some have private terraces overlooking the waterfront or the city skyline.

Tides, the hotel’s signature restaurant, focuses on Icelandic seafood and ingredients – local fish, lamb and seasonal produce. Tides Bakery and Café offers coffee, pastries and light meals throughout the day. The rooftop bar has panoramic views across Reykjavik’s harbour and surrounding mountains. And in the basement is Sunset, a cocktail bar that feels like an underground club featuring excellent mixologists and visiting DJs.

The hotel also houses a spa with a steam room, sauna and plunge pool carved into dark stone. From the harbour outside the hotel, you can join whale-watching tours or northern lights excursions, while Reykjavik’s galleries, restaurants and streets are a few minutes’ walk away.
