First built in 1914, the Poseidonion Grand Hotel gave rise to luxury travel to Spetses and has remained a grand landmark of the island ever since.

A recent meticulous restoration recaptured and embellished the hotel’s grandest days, reaffirming its standing as one of most elegant hotels in the region.

The hotel comprises of two buildings containing 52 rooms. These range from garden view and lovely sea view rooms to eight suites, some ideal for families, one with a private pool, some with a expansive private terraces, and even one split level suite in the domed roof, a favourite of honeymooners.

There are two restaurants – the Verandah offers a unique menu with fresh local ingredients from the organic vegetable garden of the hotel while Freud Oriental specializes in sushi and other Asian-inspired meals. There is also a rather nice library bar and well-mixed cocktails.

The spa, the first hotel in Greece to offer treatments based on the natural healing properties of seawater, continues to pamper guests with a range of treatments.

Aside from soaking up the authentic atmosphere of the town, guests can explore the island on horseback, foot or by bicycle. Scuba diving and waterskiing are also and option, as are day trips to Hydra, Monemvasia, Epidaurus and other nearby destinations. Unique culinary classes, a beekeeping workshop, soap making and Tai Chi Chuan classes can also be arranged.
