The capital city and hub for safaris
Lusaka is the capital and largest city of Zambia and many believe it’s one of the fastest-developing cities in Southern Africa. Not much as a destination itself, this busy little city provides you with an access point to the country’s best attractions.
Home to one of the seven natural wonders of the world, Zambia has an abundance of attractions, which bring travellers from all over the globe. With 19 National Parks, 17 waterfalls including the great Victoria Falls and home to the big five, this city allows you to have a ‘base’ before starting your luxury Lusaka safari.
English is the official language of the city, but Nyanja and Bemba are also commonly heard.

When to visit
Travelling to Lusaka from May to October is peak season. Expect dry weather and comfortable daytime temperatures of around 20–26°C (68–79°F). It’s a great time for city sightseeing and outdoor dining.
November to March is Lusaka’s green season. During these months, rain transforms the surrounding countryside with gardens and parks feeling lush and alive. Birdlife is at its most active, although afternoons can be hot and showers are more frequent.
April is a great shoulder month as the rains begin to ease. Landscapes are vibrant from the wet season, and the weather is generally pleasant for exploring before the dry season settles in.
