Kwihala Camp

On the banks of the Usangu Wetlands, just beyond the reaches of the seasonal high-water mark, is where you'll find Usangu Expedition Camp. Nestled among the woodland shade and with just 6 guest tents, this camp offers an exclusive experience into this largely unexplored wetland.

Set beneath a rocky kopje, this intimate private house is built around three ancient baobab trees.

Commanding spectacular views across the Ruaha Valley from its perch on the edge of the Mwagusi escarpment, Ikuka Safari Camp offers a timeless luxury wilderness experience.

It is an intimate camp with just six beautifully appointed tented rooms, each with its own panoramic vista of the Ruaha wilderness from their decks and vast super-king beds. Interiors are simple yet stylish, with white quartz from the escarpment itself along with other locally and sustainable sourced materials, and the rooms feature both 24-hour electricity and hot water.

Overlooking the Mwagusi river below, the central communal area has a well-stocked bar, comfortable lounge area, airy dining space, chill-out library area and a rather spectacular swimming pool.

Owner run and managed, you can be ensured a personal and private safari experience from the warm team here with expertly guided game drives into the great wilds of Ruaha in search of its incredible diversity of wildlife – some of the largest populations of elephant and lion left anywhere in Africa and more than 500 species of bird – or truly connect with nature and see things from a different perspective on an unforgettable walking safaris. Specialist photographic focused drives and visits to the camp’s community project can also be arranged.

Jabali Ridge is located atop a rocky kopje, within the wildlife-rich Ruaha National Park. Surrounded by boulders, palms and baobab trees, the camp consists of eight suites and one private house.

Suites feature private balconies from which you can look out over the Mwagusi River, and louvered shutters can be opened up to really bring you close to your surroundings, or closed for privacy. En suite bathrooms are complete with flushing toilets and hot running water.

Enjoy delicious food cooked by the camp’s chefs, including homemade bread, cakes, biscuits and ice cream. Breakfast can be enjoyed out on your game drive or back at camp, then lunch is enjoyed in the mess tent while dinner is a three-course affair served under the stars.

When you’re not out spotting wildlife – the area is home to large numbers of lion, leopard, cheetah and elepahnt – you can take a dip in the infinity pool, enjoy a refreshing drink on your private deck or relax with a book in the lounge.
