The River Lodge at Thornybush

Set in the middle of the vast bushveld panoramas in the 14,000 hectare Thornybush Private Nature Reserve, overlooking the seasonal Monwana River, the intimate River Lodge offers a personalised and private experience for every guest.

There are just four suites – including the two-bedroomed Royal Suite – each with air conditioning, outdoor showers and wonderful views out in the wild through floor to ceiling windows, perhaps best enjoyed whilst soaking in the bathtub.

The communal areas are exquisitely furnished, with a luxurious lounge and dining area where you can enjoy delectable meals prepared by a private chef. There is also a cool swimming pool overlooking the water hole.

You’ll get to explore the surrounding private reserve in open Land Rovers and on foot. Predominantly open savannah, is is home to an incredible abundance of species – 147 mammals including the ‘Big Five’, 114 reptiles, 507 birds, 49 fish, 34 amphibians and 336 trees.
