Highgrove House is an award-winning small boutique hotel with a luxuriously homely, pastoral feel, all surrounded by 64 hectares (158 acres) of private farmland just minutes from the Kruger National Park.

Follow the jacaranda lined drive up to the original 18th century farmstead. Renovations embellished its charm with period pieces – think crackling open fires and antique Persian rugs – and added all manner of creature comforts.

There are just eight huge suites, ensuring both privacy personal service, all with wonderful views over the orchards and gardens, private sitting rooms and verandas. The two larger suites enjoy their own private courtyards, gardens and swimming pools.

The food at Highgrove is a real experience, with The Royal serving globally inspired dishes made with fresh vegetables and herbs from the organic garden and locally sourced produce in the candlelit dining room. The farm grows macadamia nuts, avocados farm and makes honey, ingredients which feature in signature dishes. Private dining experiences combined with treatments at the spa can also be organised, the spa itself one of the best in the region.

There’s plenty to do on the farm, such as hiking, mountain biking and bird, and the Kruger’s Numbi Gate is a 20 minute drive away and the attractions of Hoedspruit, such as the Endangered Species Centre, the history and stunning landscapes of the Panorama Route and more are all within easy reach.
