    Moremi Game Reserve

    Camp Moremi

Elegant lodge next to the game-rich Xakhanaxa Lagoon

Camp Moremi is located within Botswana’s world-renowned Moremi Game Reserve, on the edge of the Xakanaxa Lagoon, an area known for its exceptional game viewing.

The camp has recently been completely rebuilt and consists of 12 large thatched safari tents, including one family room which includes two separate bedrooms and bathrooms and connects through interleading doors. The bathrooms feature double vanities and showers, and from the private deck, guests can enjoy views over the Moremi Game Reserve. Natural decor and soft lighting lends a warm atmosphere to the tents and they blend harmonious with the surrounding environment.

In between game drives, guests can relax around the sunken bar, built around a large termite mound and ebony tree, or in the expansive lounge area which leads towards a library and the decking. These areas, as well as the elevated dining area, are connected by boardwalk to the fireplace in front of the camp. The camp also features an open air boma and swimming pool.

Activities include a choice of morning and afternoon game drives in the Moremi Game Reserve or you can choose to explore the Xakanaxa Lagoon and its surrounding channels by boat.

Places to combine Camp Moremi with

    Sable Alley

    Moremi Game Reserve

    Sable Alley

Sable Alley sits on the banks of a lagoon that’s connected to the winding River Khwai, a short way from world-famous Moremi Game Reserve but within its own vast private concession in which game is abundant.

The camp itself has 12 luxury safari tents elevated on decks to give you a view of the lagoon, each with en suite bathrooms, indoor and outdoor showers and a veranda. You can watch passing herds of plains game, elephant and buffalo coming to drink from the camp’s swimming pool, lounge and bar.

The surrounding 200,000 hectare Khwai Private Wildlife Reserve is a community based joint venture partnership and ensures economic stability for its people – Khwai villagers make up the majority of the staff – and it adheres to environmentally sensitive practices. Red lechwe, waterbuck and reedbuck, along with many antelope species are full time residents, whilst sightings of lion, leopard, sable spotted hyena and African wild dog are excellent and elephant abound in this fantastically diverse patchwork of wetlands, floodplain, islands and woodland. Rhino can also be spotted here. Being within a private reserve means that you can explore on walking safaris and night excursions as well as traditional game drives and canoe trips.

You can also spend a night under the stars in one of the Skybeds deep within the Khwai Private Reserve. Atop a three-storey platform gently illuminated by lanterns, your bedroom overlooks a water hole that draws wildlife big and small from all around making for a truly unforgettable experience in the African bush.
