    Twr Y Felin

A coastal retreat with artistic flair

    Wales’ first contemporary art hotel

Situated along the windswept Pembrokeshire Coast Path in the southwest corner of Wales is the smallest city in Britain, St Davids. With its 12th century cathedral, historic buildings and streets trodden by pilgrims since the Middle Ages, this quaint city bears a historical significance far greater than its diminutive size. It may come as a surprise then, that St Davids is also home to Wales’ first contemporary art hotel, Twr y Felin.

Converted from a historic windmill, its sleekly refurbished interiors are now home to over 250 pieces of specially commissioned art, all of which evoke the Pembrokeshire landscape in a new way. The 41 minimalist rooms are decked out in neutral shades of taupe, grey and charcoal, allowing their individual artworks to take centre stage in a striking pop of colour and imagination.

The hotel’s acclaimed restaurant, Blas, serves up a true taste of Wales, embellishing locally farmed and fished meat and seafood with regional produce that changes with the seasons. Like the rest of the hotel, art is the main focus, and you’ll find striking portraits of famous Welsh actors as your fellow dinner guests.

It would be remiss to stay here without at least walking some of the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, which covers 186 miles of varied and beautiful coastal scenery. Expect to see a variety of seabirds, including puffins, as well as rarer skylarks and choughs. Atlantic grey seals, dolphins, and even whales and basking sharks can be spotted in the sea, which also has great surfing conditions. Try a lesson at one of the nearby beaches, or stick to dry land and explore the history of St Davids.
