Argos

A former cave monastery perched on the edge of Uçhisar
Take a step back in time with a stay at this extraordinary boutique hotel set within a series of ancient stone caves and historic dwellings.
Once part of Uçhisar’s monastic settlement, this restored former monastery is perched on the edge of the village in the heart of UNESCO-listed Cappadocia. It is brilliantly placed for watching hot air balloons drift across the landscape at sunrise from parts of the hotel, including its terraces.
Rooms and suites are spread across restored stone buildings, each with its own character. You can choose an authentic cave room, or opt for something more contemporary with traditional touches. Some suites include private cave pools, open fireplaces and balconies overlooking the valleys. Bathrooms are carved from natural stone with walk-in showers and generous deep baths.
We especially recommend dining at Seki or Nahita, where you can enjoy fresh ingredients from the Argos Gardens alongside views over Pigeon Valley and Mount Erciyes. A buffet breakfast is served each morning, and later in the day you can unwind with drinks by the fire. Or head down to one of Türkiye’s largest natural underground wine cellars to sample local wines, including the hotel’s own Nahita Dokya label.
The spa is exceptional. Built into historic cave formations, it includes a traditional Turkish bath (hammam), indoor cave pool, sauna, steam room and specialised treatments.
