La Roqqa

A vision of Tuscan flair and retro glamour
Craftsmanship and architectural ingenuity come together at La Roqqa. This boutique hotel rises from a hillside on the Monte Argentario peninsula along Tuscany’s coast in Italy, with Porto Ercole in its eyeline – a town that dates back to the Etruscans. Nearby, you’ll find ancient archaeological sites, and a charming harbour that stirs to life every morning.
Beyond its striking terracotta-coloured exterior, every detail seems to reflect what defines Porto Ercole. The same reddish hue continues throughout the hotel, alongside bursts of blue and green, reminiscent of the sea ahead and the greenery of the surrounding mountains.
The décor, consisting of slick, handcrafted furnishings, channels Italian glamour from the 1960s. Abundant sunlight also bathes every room and suite, pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows and creating a sense of continuity with the outdoors. From a sea-facing suite, step out to your private terrace where the harbour stretches out before you. Savour quiet moments, watching the daily rituals of local fishermen or yachts as they glide in after a day’s adventure.
From La Roqqa’s restaurant, the sea continues its captivating display. Here, Tuscan delights shine, crafted from the freshest ingredients that have been sourced from local producers or harvested from the organic garden onsite. Some steps away, you can wind down at the stylish rooftop terrace during aperitivo hour while gazing out to gold-tinted sunsets over the harbour.
Spend your days in Porto Ercole at La Roqqa’s chic beach club, right on a sandy shoreline. Set off into clear waters on a snorkelling adventure or unearth hidden coves by kayak. Explore further on a private sailing trip, as you cruise to tucked-away inlets or the picturesque islands of Giglio and Giannutri.

Places to combine La Roqqa with

Lake Como
The beautiful Villa d’Este is located at the southern end of Lake Como and was once the summer residence of Cardinal Tolomeo Gallio. Spread across the Cardinal’s Building and the Queen’s Pavilion, the hotel has lost none of its grandeur and is the perfect place to relax at the water’s edge.
Properties on Lake Como are famous for their beautiful gardens and Villa d’Este is no exception. It sits within 25 acres of grounds filled with sweet smelling roses and jasmine and magnolia, cypress and chestnut trees. Great care was taken during the restoration to maintain its character and charm, and each of the 152 rooms are beautifully decorated with antiques, vintage prints, silks and brocades. Many come with terraces or balconies so you can gaze out across the lake from the minute you wake up. There are also three private villas within the grounds.
The Verranda restaurant overlooks the lake and gardens and features glass windows that keep guests warm in the cooler months and disappear into the ground when the sun’s beating down. There is also a grill for a more informal dining experience and several bars and terraces. There are two outdoor pools, including one which juts out into the lake with an in-built Jacuzzi. The fitness and wellness centre with sauna and Turkish baths is the perfect place to relax, or if you fancy exploring then the hotel can arrange boat trips and scenic flights.
