    Kinsterna Hotel Monemvasia

Country-chic in a historic Peloponnese estate
    historic building Kinsterna Hotel

Historic mansion reborn as a boutique retreat among olive groves and vineyards

Set on a 25-acre estate in the Peloponnese, overlooking the medieval castle town of Monemvasia, Kinsterna Hotel occupies a restored mansion with architecture that incorporates elements from the Byzantine, Ottoman and Venetian eras. Named for a historic cistern in the courtyard, the hotel’s orchards, vineyards and century-old trees form a quiet backdrop for its 52 rooms. Many retain charming period Greek features, such as original stone walls, arched ceilings, and timber, with boutique touches, including luxuriously refinished marble bathrooms, lace tapestries and herringbone reed ceiling details.

The Kinsterna Spa uses organic treatments made with estate-grown olive oil, honey and grapes alongside aromatic herbs from the gardens. Signature rituals include exfoliation using grape seeds and a honey detox massage, and you can unwind in indoor and outdoor Jacuzzis, Razul & Water Paradise cabins and a traditional Ottoman hammam.

Several dining options reflect the land’s bounty. Mouries serves all-day fare made with seasonal vegetables, local cheeses and fish of the day, enhanced by estate extra-virgin olive oil and herbs. Linos Tavern offers rustic, wood-fired dishes such as fresh salads, country bread and slow-cooked local meats enjoyed under quince trees and vines. Sterna Restaurant, open seasonally, delivers a focused tasting menu combining Greek flavours with refined techniques.

The estate also offers experiences tied to tradition and rhythm: workshops in beekeeping, bread- and soap-making, and seasonal grape and olive harvests, all set within the same gardens and orchards that produce the hotel’s wine, honey and oil.
