    Luang Prabang

    AVANI+ Luang Prabang

    Elegant and charming

In the heart of Luang Prabang’s old city, just next to its famous night market, AVANI+ Luang Prabang takes residence in renovated 20th-century bungalows that formerly housed both French and Laotian governments and later the acclaimed Phousi Hotel.

An elegant, airy and modern take on colonial architectural style with locally made artwork, crafts and fabric, 53 rooms are centred around a swimming pool shaded by an old banyan tree. All are designed in open-plan style, many facing the pool and the largest featuring either a spacious terrace or courtyard.

The pool courtyard has its own relaxed bar, as does the main restaurant, The Bistro, where you’ll find buffet and a-la-carte breakfasts, classic bistro and Lao dishes at lunch and French-influenced cuisine and local dishes for dinner. An indoor lounge is located above the Bistro and offers a terrace overlooking the lively main street below.

There’s also a Massage Retreat which offers foot and body massage therapies with a choice of private treatment rooms, a pavilion area used for yoga and a fully-equipped gymnasium.

    Gypsy

Constructed from local hardwoods and with thatched roofs echoing the traditional slow boats of Laos, the Gypsy Boat Mekong is a vessel that offers an unparalleled way to explore the upper Mekong. This 135-foot-long cruiser accommodates just four guests, creating a truly private voyage along one of southeast Asia’s most captivating rivers.

With only two suites positioned at opposite ends of the boat, Gypsy allows you to fully immerse yourself in the charms of the Mekong. One suite features a king-size bed, while the other offers twin beds. Each suite is appointed with high-quality linens, en-suite bathrooms, plush bathrobes and slippers, mini-bars and air-conditioning. Expansive windows frame the ever-changing vistas of mountains, fields and villages as you drift by. Open decks and the bow’s alfresco platform offer great vantage points to witness the sunrise and sunset over the Mekong.

Aboard, your personal chef crafts bespoke menus that draw on the flavours of Lao, Thai and French cuisine. Meals can be served indoors or alfresco, letting you savour your dinner beneath the stars as the river slips silently by.

Each day is also an opportunity to explore the region’s cultural and natural wonders. Set off on adventures such as mountain biking through villages, guided jungle treks to the karst formations of Pak Ou caves or visit Lao and Hmong tribes at Khok-Ek.
