    Costa Rica – What to Bring

    Our list of what to bring to Costa Rica. If you have any other questions, please contact your travel designer or concierge. We advise bringing a photocopy of your passport and carrying it with you, as it is a legal requirement in Latin America and you may need it when using credit cards.

    Clothing

    • Shorts to wear, good to wear when rafting
    • T-shirt or light cotton long-sleeved shirt
    • Light shirts; cotton, long sleeved for lodge
    • Light cotton hiking trousers; jeans okay, but not recommended, because of weight and drying time
    • Sweater or sweatshirt for cooler evenings

    Shoes

    • Outdoor supportive shoes for hiking and for use on the lodge grounds
    • Sandals, Flip Flops, if you are rafting please include some water shoes or waterproof sandals

    Useful Extras

    • Spare pair of glasses, if you wear prescription lenses
    • Sunscreen or sun block
    • Insect repellent
    • Toiletry kit; no aerosols
    • Medications for personal prescriptions
    • Refillable bottle – You may drink water directly from the tap at some hotels please check there
    • Light cap with wide brim or visor for sun
    • Windbreaker; unlined Anorak, shell type, which can be tied around your waist
    • Waterproof camera (for rafting) or regular camera (with waterproof case, for hiking and lodge)
    • Plastic bags of various sizes (heavy-duty ziplock for film, books and small items), protect from rain and water
    • Sunglasses
    • Binoculars
    • Head Lamp – Please note that in some lodges after 5pm it is dark and rooms operate without electricity
