Riki Ueda

Travel Designer

My first Latin American trip started with Bolivia, Peru and Brazil. I was the first journalist in Hong Kong to introduce the now highly adored Uyuni salt pan. I immediately fell in love with the extensive continent. Being a travel journalist for the leading travel magazine in the city, I had the privilege to explore many exotic places including Kilimanjaro and Patagonia.

I have always had a strong interest in culture, animals and nature. I started my year-long journey to learn Spanish in Spain and Latin America. I stayed with local families to experience complete cultural immersion. I also volunteered in animal sanctuaries, taking care of monkeys and sloths. I was so in love with Spain that I lived there from time to time. My passion for the Latin culture led me to publish 2 books about Latin America and Spain.

Hoping to raise public awareness on endangered animals conservation, I went to Africa and volunteered for over half a year. Not only taking care of animals, I also helped in research and learnt about human wildlife conflict mitigation. Soon after I published the very first Chinese-language book about African wildlife conservation.

I have travelled to over 60 countries. To me, traveling is the best way of experiencing life. Let me share with you some of the best destinations in the world.
