Sitting prettily in the Lofoten Sea is Nyvagar and its thirty fishing ‘huts’, surrounded by beautifully unique scenery. Fitted out with entirely modern interiors and facilities, the lodgings fuse quaint historic character with contemporary comforts.
It’s easy to make yourself at home here with each cabin, or rorbus, offering a vast amount of space with two bedrooms, a living room, kitchen and dining area spread over two floors.
Fresh, local produce is prepared to create traditional, tasty dishes at the restaurant, while the Auavit Loft offers a cosy spot with superb sea, northern lights or midnight sun views.
Placed in the Nordland's region at 69º latitude and 187 miles to the north of the Arctic Circle, The Lofoten Islands rise dramatically from the sea. Spend your time in these Arctic Circle islands enjoying the distinctive scenery of beaches and mountains, open sea and sheltered bays, untouched lands and picturesque fishing villages, and of course, the pristine Arctic air. Investigate the island's Viking history, explore the world's largest deep-water coral reef and see the largest number of nesting sea birds in Norway. You'll have our our top recommendations for making the most of your stay.
You will be collected from your lodge, provided with dry suits and equipment and taken by a private Zodiac towards the north of the archipelago. Skirting the impressive mountains of the Vest Fjord and Raftsundet (Strait of Raft), you will reach the Troll Fjord, one of the most beautiful and emblematic parts of the islands. During the expedition you'll see local wildlife such as white-tailed eagles and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant at the whaling island of Skrova or Henningsvaer. Continue by Zodiac to the arctic fishing village of Henningsvaer where you will have time to walk around and explore one of the most beautiful fishing villages in the archipelago. You will then be returned to your lodge by car.
Your private guide and vehicle will collect you from your hotel for your tour today. Driving through the panoramic roads of the Lofoten Islands along the coast, you will head towards the south, stopping at scenic spots. Enjoy the views of wild unspoiled white sand beaches, glacier valleys, granite mountains and polar fishing villages. Then have lunch in the fishing village of Nusfjord or Stamsund, before continuing to explore the islands towards the west coast of the archipelago. You will then be returned to your lodge.
This evening, enjoy dinner at one of the best restaurants in the Lofoten Islands, where you will taste Arctic specialties and excellent quality fish.

- Trapper's Hut
- Secondary Station
- Gamme
- Eighty Alaskan Huskies
Experience life as the trappers of the Arctic archipelago once did with a stay at the remote Trapper’s Station. Based approximately ten kilometres from the edge of Longyearbyen, this is a truly unique and hands-on place to lodge.
Designed as a replica of an old trappers’ station and filled with artefacts, fur rugs, sealskins and oil lamps, the feel here is complete Arctic authenticity. The accommodation is made up of the trapper’s hut, and for a truly different experience, the secondary station and gamma. Reminiscent of a shelter used by trappers during their hunting trips, the secondary station provides four beds, while the gamma is styled as a wooden teepee hut where you can settle down into sleeping bags on reindeer skin.
Let the everyday stresses of modern life trickle away as you get up close to this peaceful and relaxed wilderness on husky sled rides, before returning to the station for hearty four-course meals of Arctic food and flavours.
Today you'll be brought to the foot of the Breinosa Mountain for a unique experience at a Husky sled dog farm where you'll be greeted by 90 excited Alaskan Huskies and taught the basics of handling dogs and harnessing them to the wagon. Rather than traditional wooden sleds, the yard uses special wheeled wagons that dogs find easier to pull. After a trip in the wagon, biscuits and coffee will be served in a traditional wooden hut at the farm.
Explore the arctic tundra of the Svalbard Islands on exciting kayaking, trekking, snowmobiling and dog sledding tours. Witness astonishing wildlife from polar bears to whales, discover glaciers, fjords and ice caves and marvel at the beauty of the Northern Lights. Your travel designer will give you our top recommendations for icy adventures so that you can make the most of your time here.
From Longyearbyen port, board the Polar boat and sail into Advent Fjord toward the blue Nordenskioldbreen glacier. You'll visit the Pyramiden settlement, an old coal mine, and see flocks of birds which arrive in the summer to lay their eggs. Enjoy lunch on board. You'll be transferred back to your lodge in the afternoon.
You will be transferred to the Adventfjorden port where you will put on dry suits and begin an expedition on board a powerful and safe inflatable expedition boat to venture out on the blue glacier waters. You'll reach the impressive glacier of Esmark where you will stop for a while to enjoy a beverage while admiring the blue hue of the ice caves. Next, your adventure takes you to the solitary and inaccessible Radio Station of Kapp Linne, where you will have lunch and go for a walk to learn the kind of relief and curiosities of this place “at the end of the world”. You will then return to Longyearbyen at the feet of the impressive “bird” mountains which rise from the Arctic Ocean.
