Hacienda Piman dates back to 1680, making it amongst the oldest in the country, and has been owned by the Zaldumbide family since its foundation. Tucked away into a green valley between the mountains, Piman is situated at an altitude of 2000m (6,561 feet), relatively low for an Andean home, and enjoys a wonderful climate year round.
The property’s architecture is a marriage of the old and new, with some constructions dating back more than 300 years, while others, such as the chapel and library, to the 19th century. 17 are rooms distributed between the old house and new cottages set in the grounds.
Simple, warm and homely, all feature modern amenities. The gardens are wonderfully peaceful, a source of much inspiration for some of the famed poets from the Zaldumbide family, and the timeless feel is continued in the food with an array of home-style dishes drawing on a proud culinary heritage. The hacienda offers an array of activities such as horse rides, hikes and mountain biking and it is well placed to explore the region’s rich culture and history on a range of excursions.
