Located in the heart of Old Havana, the Kempinski hotel is a beautiful building that was originally built as the first European-style shopping mall in Cuba. With views of El Capitolio and the Great Theatre, this is one of the city’s most sophisticated and ideally placed hotels.
There are 246 rooms and suites, all with high ceilings and French windows. Decor is smart and contemporary with splashes of bright colour and lots of natural light flooding in through the large windows. Lots of them enjoy gorgeous views over the city and some feature small balconies from which to enjoy a morning coffee.
The San Cristobal restaurant specialises in Caribbean seafood and there are several bars in which to quench your thirst, including the Constante Bar, named after the man who created the daiquiri. Here you can enjoy a range of traditional Cuban cocktails. There is also a tobacco lounge where you can sample some of the country’s finest cigars.
For some of the best views in the city, head up to the rooftop pool and terrace where you can take a dip and enjoy a poolside drink with the rooftops of Havana unfolding before you.
