Sitting pretty on 60 hectares of tropical land with easy access to the Refugio Nacional de Vida Silvestre Mixto Maquenque, guests at the Maquenque Ecolodge will enjoy the simple beauty and wildlife of Costa Rica’s lowlands.
Each of the lodge’s 14 en suite bungalows have private terraces with a seating area overlooking the lake. Meals are taken at the cosy El Paso de la Lapa Restaurant which features panoramic views of the mountains and lagoons and a menu that’s prepared with the freshest fruits and vegetables, grown in the lodge’s own garden.
The undisputed highlight of this lodge can be found in the surrounding tropical rainforest where more than 410 bird species reside, such as the endangered great green macaw, the scarlet macaw, toucans, oropendolas, honeycreepers, tanagers, euphonias and jacamars. Spend your time here on guided rainforest walks, horse-back safaris and canoe and boat tours on the lagoons and the San Carlos River looking out for crocodiles, tortoises, bats, herons, kingfishers and king vultures.

Whatever you want your luxury tour or safari itinerary to include, we’ll create something fully bespoke for you… and only you.
