Two colonial mansions once owned by Spanish generals, have been joined together and renovated, and turned into one of Bogota’s most established and elegant places to stay. Hotel de la Opera is a real cornerstone of this city’s history and hospitality.
Standing in one of the cobbled streets in the historic La Candelaria district, your location is at the very cultural heart of Bogota and within walking distance of lots of the city’s sights. Its ochre and coral insides are old-world resplendent with a grandiose central courtyard with ascending tiers of inner arched balconies leading to its 29 rooms.
The rooms are modest, comfortable and with all the modern amenities and comforts expected. Some have their own balconies looking onto the pretty neighbourhood outside, but the best views by far are from the roof terrace out onto the terracotta-tiled world and imposing green Andes beyond.
There are also two restaurants and a full-service spa, as well as a particularly friendly and helpful team of staff.
