Full-day Mendoza wineries tour - Central Valley Full-day Mendoza wineries tour - Central Valley

Your expert local guide will collect you from your hotel and bring you for an enjoyable sample of the different wineries in the Mendoza area. The Central Valley or Primera Zona (the closest to the city of Mendoza) includes the counties of Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, Guaymallén and Godoy Cruz. This is the home of malbec and where some of the most prestigious Argentine wineries are located. Originally from Bordeaux, France, this variety found the ideal place to prosper in Mendoza given the agro-climatic conditions of the area.

During the tour you'll visit three different wineries, we suggest a mix of smaller, boutique establishments and the larger operations, to give you a chance to see the contrasts and differences. During the visit, you'll always be accompanied by your private guide, though during the visits and tastings themselves you'll also be with the wineries' own guide.

Finally, in the afternoon, you'll stop at one of the top Bodega restaurants (such as La Tupina or Ruca Malen) for a chance to really enjoy the wine as it is meant to be; with great food. You have a gourmet tasting lunch paired with wines from the Bodega.

Full day Andes Tour Full day Andes Tour

Drive west towards the mountains. The first Andean mountain range we will come across is called the Pre Mountain Range, and the snowy peaks to the west are part of the Cordillera Frontal, a different range. We shall drive through the Potrerillos Valley which lies between these two ranges, and drive pass by Potrerillos Lake to the Cordillera Frontal. Head off the asphalt onto a dirt road, going towards the Vallecitos ski resort.

From here start trekking into a gorge and where you will be able to see Mount Franke (5000m, 16,400 feet) and on the right the San Bernardo (4400m, 14,400 feet). The path goes up along a water stream and a very fertile tract where the water table approaches the surface and a few water springs can be seen. Ahead of us, the majestic mount Vallecitos (5800m, 19,000 feet) is the perfect spot to have lunch. Eventually, packs of guanacos and some condors can be added to the scenery. After lunch, you can trek up for another hour to a wide valley where accumulated earth and stones have been deposited by a glacier. During the winter, the area can be covered in snow, and you may need to trek with snow shoes.
