Within a picturesque mountain valley, along the banks of the renowned Traful River sits the family owned fishing and riding lodge: Estancia Arroyo Verde. This is the ultimate anglers’ hotel with its private ten mile stretch of clear, green waters abundant with salmon, brown and rainbow trout.
A string of fervent anglers have stayed here during the eighty years that the Lariviere family has been managing estancias in the area. In the past hosting such discriminating clientele as President Eisenhower, King Leopold of Belgium and the Infanta Cristina of Spain is somewhat of a nod to this estancia’s highly regarded standards.
Set in landscaped gardens, the property’s main house features four cosy guest rooms alongside a dining area and sun-lounge looking out dazzling valley and mountain views. A separate private lodging is also available here – the twin bedroom cabin about a mile and a half from the main house is perched on a rocky outcrop with its own space and splendid views.
Besides catch and release fly-fishing, other activities to get involved with in this breath-taking area of Northern Patagonia include horse riding, hiking and bird watching. However, simply relaxing and taking in the natural splendour is a well accepted pastime here.
