This five-day, four-night trek affords incredible mountain views and ancient Inca complexes. Starting in Cusco, the Inca Trail leads the way through the mountains to the iconic Machu Picchu site.

During the trek you will pass the Inca city of Llactapata, grazing llamas and alpacas, cloud forest, mountain passes, and the Inca complexes of Phuyupatamarca and Wiñaywayna, before the trek comes to an end at Machu Picchu. After a guided tour of the famous Inca site and a well-deserved soak in the hot springs, you will finish the fifth day by taking the train back down the mountain to Cusco.

Covering 43 km, the trek avoids the crowds, involves shorter daily distances and also allows more time for acclimatization, which makes it a good option for families with children.

The accommodation consists of four-man tents (with two people allocated to each tent), each equipped with sleeping pads, sleeping bags (-18ºC/0ºF-comfort) and pillows. There will be a dining and kitchen tent, plus a toilet tent with bio-degradable facilities. The camp will be carried by porters and there will also be porters to carry personal possessions of up to 9kg per person.
