At a glance

There are few places more magical in winter than Swedish Lapland. This family adventure takes in three secluded spots in Lapland as well as the elegant capital of Sweden, Stockholm.

Your trip begins at the Arctic Retreat in the Råne River Valley, north of the Arctic Circle. As well as being a wonderful place to relax and enjoy your beautiful surroundings, there are plenty of excursions from cross-country skiing to snow-shoe walks, where you’ll head out in search of the awe-inspiring natural light display, the Northern Lights.

Next, you’ll spend a night at the one-of-a-kind Treehotel. Kids and big kids alike will revel in the chance to climb up into this giant treehouse, complete with Scandinavian-chic decor. Here, you’ll spend your evening nestled high up in the pine forest canopy, several metres above the ground. From this vantage point, you’ll be treated to spectacular views of the Lule River, snow-covered forest and winter skies.

As you make your way to the award-winning eco-camp, Sápmi Nature Camp, you’ll stop in the Sami village of Jokkmokk to learn about the culture and traditions of the Sami People. During your time at the camp, you’ll get to see how people live in this unique environment and what Sami life looks like in the 21st century. The whole family will love the chance to walk in the shoes of a reindeer herder and get close to these majestic animals.

As your Lapland adventure draws to a close, you’ll head back to civilisation. Your final stop is the beautiful city of Stockholm where you can explore its fantastic museums, galleries and charming streets.

Enjoy your days exploring Stockholm, Sweden's beautiful capital. Set over 14 islands, it's a place of water and greenery as much as the urban, a place where centuries of history meet the constant forward-thinking nature of its near one million inhabitants. As well as fine museums, trend-setting restaurants and vibrant nightclubs, a short cruise out of the city will find you among the thousands of beautiful islands that make up the Stockholm archipelago, making this a city that feels surprisingly outdoorsy.

Next, you'll breathe in the fresh air as you wander down hidden alleyways between medieval buildings in Gamla Stan (the old town). Pop into the Royal Palace of Stockholm and see the state apartments, pass by the cathedral, and discover the historic Stortorget and Mårten Trotzigs Gränd alleyways. Then you'll end the tour with glimpses of some of Stockholm's city districts, like Södermalm, Djurgården, Norrmalm and Östermalm.
