A city centre retreat on a historic island
- 78 rooms
- Tennis court
On a peaceful island connected to Stockholm’s main peninsula, the Hotel Skeppsholmen occupies two long buildings that were originally built in 1699 to house Sweden’s Royal Marines. Stylishly reinvigorated by celebrated local architect and design firm Claesson Koivisto Rune, today it is a modern, calm eco-friendly retreat that is still just a short walk from the city centre.
The contemporary updates and modern Scandinavian design flourishes can be found in all 78 rooms.
Art abounds throughout the hotel with exhibitions hosted in partnership with the neighbouring Museum of Modern Art and the food too is at the cutting edge of Swedish creativity with the restaurant, Långa Raden, serving up fresh takes on traditional dishes with seasonal ingredients. This is a place where you can expect to dine with locals as much as guests and brunch here is a real treat.
Outside you’ll find Sweden’s first outdoor tennis court, built by King Oscar II in 1882, a collection of nearby museums including the architectural museum, many waterfront restaurants, historic ships, and castle on the islet of Kastellholmen.
Whatever you want your luxury tour or safari itinerary to include, we’ll create something fully bespoke for you… and only you.
