The approach to Cap Rocat may well stop you in your tracks, which is fitting given the hotel is a former military fortress. Luckily nowadays getting inside is less problematic and the only time you’ll be looking over your shoulder is to take in the panoramic views.

The unique architecture makes this a wonderfully unique place to stay, its exterior made from warm and inviting honey coloured marés sandstone. The fortress was dug into the cliffs in the 19th century, then converted into a luxury hotel in 2010. Some of the suites are located in former shooting buttresses, and thick stone walls and vaulted ceilings add plenty of character.

Fresh Mediterranean flavours can be expected at the restaurant; in the warmer months there is the option to dine al fresco in the courtyard, the sound of tinkling fountains in the background. There is also a Sea Club where food is cooked in a traditional Mallorcan firewood oven and grill.

Cap Rocat is located in a secluded area of Palma Bay and the terrace offers spectacular views out across the water. Cool off in the saltwater infinity pool, or take advantage of the hotel’s direct access to the sea.
