Castillo De Arteaga
A Neo-Gothic tower in a beautiful valley east of Bilbao
- 13 rooms and suites
- Wine cellar
Built within medieval castle walls for Napoleon III’s wife Eugenia de Montijo, the Castillo de Arteaga’s grand Gothic tower was renovated and transformed into an utterly unique boutique hotel.
There are 13 rooms found in the tower and ornamental battlements, including unique suites in the corners of the castle on with an iron spiral staircase leading up to a private terrace and pool. Other rooms feature wood panelling and period furniture.
The hotel has a fabulous restaurant which focuses on local produce and traditional methods along with a cellar stocked with wine where you can enjoy tastings with a sommelier.
Outside, the Urdaibai estuary spills out into the sea, a UNESCO protected wetland rich with birdlife and some of the most popular beaches of the Basque region.
