Located on the Roxburghe Estate in between Newcastle and Edinbugh, the Roxburghe Hotel is the perfect place from which to enjoy the beauty of the Scottish Lowlands.
The history surrounding the hotel and the village of Heiton can be traced back as far as the 12th century and this beautiful country house is full of history and charm with furnishings, books and paintings from the Duke of Roxburghe’s own home.
There are just 22 indivisually styled rooms, some featuring four-poster beds and fireplaces. The courtyard rooms are more modern in style and enjoy an extra sense of privacy, being a short walk from the main building.
Enjoy classic French cooking at Chez Roux where Albert Roux, head of the famous cooking dynasty, is at the helm. Dishes are impeccably presented and can be enjoyed alongside any of the 120 wine lables that are kept in the cellar. Enjoy a morning coffee or afternoon tea in front of the crackling fire in the drawing room, then head to the library or conservatory with French windows that open out onto the gardens.
There is plenty to do on the estate, from a round of golf on the championship course to clay pigeon shooting and fishing on the River Tweed.
