Poking their heads out of the Tyrrhenian Sea, some 40 miles north of Sicily, lie the Aeolian Islands said to have been created by Aeolus, god of the winds. Capofaro is located on Salina, the second largest of the islands, and a stay here is to experience the wild beauty of this part of Italy.

The hotel has just 20 rooms, each one with a private terrace. Salina is the greenest of all the islands and rooms look out across acres of vineyards, with the islands of Stromboli and Panarea visible in the distance.

With a crisp, clean palette the hotel is typically Aeolian in design and offers guests a tranquil retreat in idyllic settings. Relax by the outdoor pool or choose to visit a private stretch of beach to feel the sand between your toes.

The hotel restaurant makes the most of the island’s natural larder and uses locally sourced produce to create beautiful dishes based on traditional Sicilian recipes. Salina is famous for the Malvasia grape, used to make a dry white wine with floral and herbal notes, a glass of which is the perfect accompaniment to watching the sun sink over the horizon.
