A couple of minute’s walk from the base of the Spanish Steps, along the Via Condotti and above the flagship Ferragamo store, Portrait Roma’s 14 suites discreetly reside within a 19th century townhouse, topped by a rooftop terrace that overlooks the ancient city.
Owned by the Ferragamo family, the Portrait Roma revives the glamour and effortless style of the 1950s, bringing it right up to the present with a whole host of refined modern luxuries. The interior design follows in Salvatore’s exquisitely well heeled footsteps, with luxe touches from silk lined curtains, a boar skin leather lined elevator and a smattering of cordwainer related artwork and period photography of the starlets he worked with.
The suites and studios range in size from 33 to 80 square metres (355 to 860 square feet), all featuring a modern kitchenette and wonderful marble bathroom. A handful have their own private balconies or terraces overlooking the boutique fashion outlets below and the sprawling the penthouse has its own sauna.
On the seventh floor is a roof lounge serving cocktails by a constantly burning fireplace with views across Tridente district. This, or your bedroom, is the setting for sumptuous breakfasts. While there is no restaurant here, dinners can be delivered from a local restaurant.
Service here is an absolute highlight, including personalised assistance from a lifestyle manager who can organise personal shopping and tailor-made tours to discover Rome led by art historians and archaeologists.
