Villa la Massa

Perched on the banks of the Arno River is Villa la Massa, a 16th century Medici estate. Nestled among the rolling green hills, this is rural Italy at its most beautiful.

You’ll enjoy the peace and quiet of the Tuscan countryside while being just a few kilometres from Florence. You’re also at the gateway to the Chianti wine region. The hotel is surrounded by 22 acres of lemon trees and olive groves, and numerous paths lead down to the river from where you can look out towards the Chianti Ruffina hills.

37 rooms and suites are spread across three buildings and are decorated in traditional Tuscan style. Iron four-poster beds are draped in classic fabrics and ceiling frescos, tiled floors and tapestries make it easy to imagine how the Medici family would once have lived.

Part of the hotel’s grounds are used for growing fruit and vegetables for the restaurant, and the chef is happy to take guests around the kitchen garden. Situated in the old mill, the wine cellar is well stocked with labels from the local area and further afield; discover your favourite with a tasting session.

For when you need to really unwind, head to the spa with its Turkish baths, sauna, Roman pool and sensory showers. Or, explore the surrounding countryside by bike or horse.
