At a glance

With its beautiful coastline, bustling cities and rich cultural heritage, Thailand is a wonderful honeymoon destination. This ten-day trip takes you from the vibrant capital of Bangkok, through the peaceful countryside of Chiang Mai and finishes with four blissful nights on the island of Koh Yao Noi.

Bangkok is a city that really does have it all – it is an intoxicating mix of old and new with ornate temples and palaces sitting side by side with skyscrapers and shopping malls. Whether you want to eat in some of the world’s best restaurants or find the perfect pad Thai in one of its food markets, nobody leaves the city without realising why Thai food is so popular the world over.

Take a longtail boat along the Chao Phraya River, visit the incredible Grand Palace and discover Bangkok’s burgeoing street art scene with a local guide who will take you to some of the city’s hidden spots. From the hustle of bustle of the capital, it’s then onto the capital of the cultural north, Chiang Mai. This area is full of incredible temples and you’ll explore this beautiful region both on the ground and from the air as you enjoy an early morning hot air balloon ride. You’ll also visit the Elephant Nature Park to learn about and interact with these gentle giants.

It’s then time to relax on the island of Koh Yao Noi, staying at the beautiful Six Senses property. You’ll have four nights to unwind – enjoy a sunset longtail cruise, kayak through the mangrove forests and swim in the infinity pool that overlooks the ocean. And of course there’s plenty of time to indulge in spa treatments and dine on incredible food.

Discover the city’s ways of life and iconic monuments from the water. Take a ride along the Chao Phraya River, also known as the ‘River of Kings’. Admire the passing skyline where glittering pagodas stand in the shadows of towering skyscrapers. The boat then turns off the main waterway and onto the canals, or ‘klongs’. Now you'll see why Bangkok is often called the Venice of the East. Capture glimpses of small villages on the water’s edge and enjoy the slower pace of life away from the city centre.

Cruise back onto the Chao Phraya to visit Wat Arun, a 79m high pagoda built in a style similar to Angkor Wat. Meaning ‘Temple of Dawn’, Wat Arun is one Thailand’s most beautiful temples.

The Grand Palace The Grand Palace

The glittering Grand Palace has been the seat of Thailand's revered royal family for more than two centuries. Explore this spectacular complex of palaces, temples and museums and learn about the history of the royals. Before leaving, pay a visit to the Emerald Buddha image, one of Thailand’s most sacred statues.

This northern province is a beautiful part of the country. It is a deeply spiritual place and is full of wonderfully ornate temples. We will recommend and arrange the best privately guided activities so you can really get the ultimate Chiang Mai experience.

Hot air balloon ride over Chiang Mai Hot air balloon ride over Chiang Mai

Enjoy an unforgettable hot air balloon ride over the beautiful landscape of Chiang Mai. Awake early and transfer to the launch site on the outskirts of town. Enjoy a cup of coffee while the crew inflates the balloon, watching as the canopy rises gently into the air.

Following a safety briefing from the pilot, climb into the basket. Once everyone is on board the pilot will fire up the burners, release the ropes, and start navigating the balloon into the sky. Soar higher and higher as the sun begins to peek over the horizon. The gentle breeze will help the pilot fly the balloon over the countryside. Pass over fields and rice paddies, see the lush Ping River valley and dip low over rural Thai villages. Enjoy the solitude of the open skies while soaking up the panoramic views.

After 1-1.5 hours, the pilot will begin to descend back to the ground. Land in the countryside and celebrate with a champagne toast, a ballooning tradition.

Chiang Mai spiritual temple tour Chiang Mai spiritual temple tour

Take a journey of spiritual discovery in Chiang Mai. Start with a visit to the city’s old town, venturing through the crumbling city walls and admiring a blend of old and new buildings. Catch glimpses of glittering pagoda spires illuminated by the late afternoon sun. Then step into the secret jungle temple, Wat Phalad. As one of the most peaceful and enchanting crafted temples in Chiang Mai, the temple has got the fantastic history as it was built to enshrine a piece of bone said to be from the historical Buddha. Here, visit one of the monks and receive a blessing of good health and good fortune.

Continue on the spiritual trail, leaving the city centre, and taking a winding drive into the hills. Climb up the staircase of Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, admiring the intricate naga carvings along the way. Upon reaching the top, explore the 14th-century pagoda and hear about its origins. Wander around the towering gilded stupa and take a moment to enjoy the views of Chiang Mai in the distance. Before the sun sets, witness the magical evening chanting of the monks, a serene way to end the day’s spiritual tour.

Elephant Nature Park Tour Elephant Nature Park Tour

Visiting an elephant camp is a ‘must do’ on a Thailand holiday, but the Elephant Nature Park provides a truly remarkable experience. Drive away from Chiang Mai and toward the scenic Mae Taeng Valley. Upon arrival meet with one of the volunteers from the park and learn about their work. Established more than 20 years ago, the park provides a sanctuary for Thailand's mistreated elephants. Hear the tales of some of the park’s residents, gaining a better understanding for the threats to the Thai elephant population and their natural habitat.

Then wander through the park to meet the elephants. The animals are allowed to roam free, without chains, throughout the park. Although it is not guaranteed to see the elephants, they have become accustomed to the daily feeding routines of the Park so are likely to be around. Join the volunteers- both local residents and foreigners to feed. This not only provides an opportunity to get closer to the elephants but also helps form a deeper understanding of Thailand’s natural wonders.

Four nights on Koh Yao Noi Four nights on Koh Yao Noi

A far cry from the quickly developing Phuket, yet only a one-hour boat ride away, Koh Yao Noi is considered one of the last unspoiled islands in the south of Thailand, offering a peaceful and enviable Thai beach experience.

Sitting in the middle of Phang Nga Bay, this laid-back haven is encircled by secluded beaches giving way to rice paddies, while the lush interior of rubber plantations and mangroves can be explored on motorbikes and tuk-tuks. Unlike some Thai islands - and for many this will be welcome relief - you won't find a roaring nightlife or a notable shopping scene here; instead, look out for buffaloes taking mud baths, go snorkelling around the vibrant coral reefs, and simply soak up the serene atmosphere.
