This twelve-day Indonesian trip begins with a stay at Java’s impressive Amanjiwo hotel. With views of the majestic Borobudur Temple, your time here can be filled with as much culture or relaxation as you like, before moving onto far-flung Sumba and Nihi Sumba Island, one of the finest resorts in the world. This heavenly slice of island life can be spent surfing and horse-riding at the picture-perfect beach, visiting local villages, swimming in cool waterfall pools or simply indulging at your luxury retreat.

The second half of this trip then takes you sailing around the UNESCO-awarded Komodo Islands on a lavish five-night cruise. While away your days with complete R&R as you journey around lush islands and pristine beaches. Those that are keen to explore will also be well entertained with exciting wildlife adventures of searching for the infamous Komodo Dragon on land and diving among colourful fish and reefs in azure waters.

Spend your days relaxing at the ever peaceful Amanjiwo luxury hotel. Set within an authentic ampitheatre in rural Java, you can cycle around the surronding villages or take a trip out to Borobudur where a ninth century Buddhist sanctuary is found. Both a shrine to Lord Buddha and a place for Buddhist pilgrimage, Borobudur comprises six square platforms topped by three circular platforms, and is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and 504 life-size Buddha statues, each sculpted from a single stone. The monument occupies a modest plateau and from the top gallery, beautiful views of Central Java are revealed.o lift, the sun scales the surrounding volcanoes and terraced fields, and highlights the stone reliefs and the many faces of Buddha. Glimpsing Borobudur for the first time is often a deeply felt emotional experience. Later in the day, visits can be made to appreciate the historic and cultural context of this enduring monument. Personal guides will bring to life the knowledge contained within the reliefs. Go by 'andong', the traditional horse cart used daily by villagers throughout the region.

Start cycling from Amanjiwo, stopping off to see how tofu and tempeh is still traditionally made. Continue riding to another village which specializes in making pottery and then on to Kali Tengah Village which is the starting point for your trek. The 90 minute walk leads up through a string of small settlements, farms and plantations of cloves, coffee and sweet potato. Rest in Suroloyo before climbing 280 steps up to a peak of the Menoreh Hills for an incredible view down the valley and to the mountains beyond. Cycle part of the way back on a scenic route down to Borobudur.

Spend some lazy days at Nihi Sumba Island. All your meals and non-alcoholic drinks are included, so relax, soak up the sun, watch the sunset then enjoy an atmospheric dinner in the restaurant or at one of the many romantic locations among the grounds. Swim in the crystal-clear waters, go mountain biking and paddle boarding or simply kick back with a yoga or meditation session. To mix things up a bit, why not try an excursion out to a traditional Sumbanese village? The choice is yours.

Get up bright and early for an open-water fishing trip. Seventeen miles off the coast of Sumba, head to NIHI Sumba Island's FAD (fish aggregating device), a raft covered with algae which attracts little fish and, in turn, bigger fish. Now it is an incredible fishing spot where you can catch mahi-mahi and wahoo, which will later be served to you at dinner as sashimi. If you like, you can also jump in and snorkel with the fish, tiny sharks, and often dolphins, too. You can try your hand at spear-fishing, too.

Start the day with a hike to Nihi Oka, which is about 90 minutes away. On your hike, you'll pass villagers bathing in the river, Sumbanese horses and kids on their way to school. On arrival at Nihi Oka, a beautiful clifftop spot, you'll be greeted with cold towels and a coconut cut down from the top of the palm trees by your guide. Then you'll be shown to your breakfast table under the shade of a huge tree and overlooking the surf, where you'll be served Sumbanese coffee, fresh fruit, cakes, eggs, bacon and toast. You'll then be picked up in an open-top jeep and taken back to the resort.

Today you will have the chance to learn how to stand-up paddle board.
