This lesser known national park in the north east of Tanzania is located just across the Indian Ocean from Zanzibar Island.
With a location in the centre of the historic triangle of Bagamoyo, Pangani and Zanzibar, Saadani National Park covers an area of 1100km2. This is the only place in Tanzania that offers the chance to experience both safari and beach in one location, making it perfect for those who don’t want to spend too much time travelling.
Today it is still considered a lesser known region in Tanzania, and therefore offers a backwater feel to more popular safari areas such as Selous Game Reserve or Ruaha. The parks savannah is home to a variety of different species from giraffes, waterbucks, buffalo, wildebeest, plains zebra, eland, hyena, baboons and lions, amongst other species.
Situated next to the Indian Ocean, a stay here also offers an opportunity to see green turtles, humpback whales and dolphins.
