Overview
Alex Walker has been guiding and organizing expert safaris throughout East Africa for over 25 years and this camp was the first of many, hence, ‘The Original’. Serian, meaning ‘peaceful, calm, serene’ in the Maasai language, perfectly captures the essence of this camp, perched on the edge of Mara River in the Mara North Conservancy
There are five vast marquees atop beautiful hardwood decking, including one family suite. Each is unique and all are furnished with elegant simplicity and homely touches. Beautiful bush bathrooms offer views over the river valley from the bathtub, with an airy feeling blending the divide between indoors and out.
The thatched mess area and its stunning view sit at the camp’s heart. Here you’ll enjoy wonderful dishes created with ingredients from the manager’s own organic garden, and get cosy around the fire as the night cools.
Of course, the main focus is the safari experience and each group has their own custom safari vehicle with a dedicated guide and spotter, giving you the freedom to spend your drives seeking out what you want and more flexibility with times. On night drives, spot animals with red-filtered bulbs before watching active predators on the hunt through special infrared cameras, meaning you are essentially invisible.
Walking here is also a speciality, and you can head out with a guide in to a private no-vehicle zone where you are likely to have close encounters with elephant, buffalo, hippo as well as more rare species like Chandler’s mountain reedbuck, klipspringer and oribi.

House in the Wild is a unique family owned seven-room luxury boutique eco-lodge on the banks of the Mara River on the Naretoi Sanctuary in the Enonkishu Conservancy. At the heart of the business is a model of regenerative eco-tourism, and a commitment to restoring wildlife habitats and improving the lives of the people living in the area. Overview
Towering high on the Rift Valley’s Oloololo Escarpment with direct and private access to the Mara Triangle, this lodge’s name was inspired by the Swahili word for ‘suspended in mid-air’. It’s not only its location that makes it stand out, but also its commitment to education, health and conservation in the region.
Each of the 30 luxury tented suites echo the traditional Maasai culture with splashes of red and tartan print throughout, coupled with minimalist design, so as not to disrupt the dramatic, 180° panoramic views. Soak up your surroundings with provided binoculars from the comfort of your own room, equipped with 10 metre wide, floor-to-ceiling glass windows or on the private wooden decks that hang above the Mara below.
The Pavilion, which sits between the two campsites, is the perfect place to unwind after a day on safari. Catch the sun setting over the reserve with a drink at the cosy pit fire. Angama Mara also includes Angama Safari Camp which operates seasonally, between July and the end of September. The establishment of the lodges has contributed to funding the Mara Conservancy, a collaboration between conservation experts and the local Maasai community. This innovative partnership utilises tourism as a means to preserve one of the world’s most visited national parks.
- An additional $20 from each room night goes directly to the Angama Foundation, supporting projects in three key areas: healthcare, conservation, and education. The identification and prioritisation of projects involve collaboration with neighbouring communities, the Mara Conservancy, and NGOs with a proven track record of making a positive impact in the region.
- The lodge prioritises sustainability, relying completely on solar and hydropower. Following Kenya’s lead, the elimination of single-use plastics is in effect, and eco bricks are creatively employed in their organic gardens as an innovative means of upcycling old plastics.

Overview
Just north of the Maasai Mara Reserve, in the 30,000 acre private Olare Motorogi Conservancy, this Relais & Châteaux camp offers you outstanding game experiences without the restrictions that the reserve itself imposes on other lodges. Each guest’s stay helps to contribute to various conservation and community projects. This conservancy adds a huge plus factor due to the privacy and minimal vehicle traffic within it. You can easily access the Maasai Mara Reserve, but the game in the conservation area is just as excellent. Leopard are regularly spotted passing through the camp and lions can often be heard in the distance.
Stroll along walkways that wind their way through the forest between the tented suites that are built on high stilts offering you stunning views onto the Ntiakitiak Riverr or across the Mara plains. Each suite has deep canvas canopied ceilings, rough-hewn wood floors and accents of East Africa’s rich safari history. Expect thick Lamu wood doors, deep purples, and brass accents. The raised library looks down onto hippos wallowing in the river, while the wine cellar is the perfect place to unwind and sample a selection of excellent South African and French wines. You can also choose to enjoy a private dining experience here.
A highlight of the camp is the family suite, the Mara Plains Jahazi Suite, which is an exclusive-use, two-bedroom tented villa with its own team of dedicated staff.

Overview
This is one of Kenya’s ultimate safari experiences for authentic tented luxury.
Positioned on the banks of the Njageteck River in the Olare Orok Conservancy for extra seclusion, the nearby Ngoyanai springs provide permanent water, drawing in large numbers of animals to the area around camp. This camp is also particularly known for its resident lion pride. In the arena of the Maasai Mara, a stay here provides the equivalent of VIP seats and service for one of the best wildlife spectacles in the African bush.

Overview
This lovely camp has just twelve luxury tents and one family suite set amid the private Bushtops Conservancy, which border the Maasai Mara.
The camp itself is perched on the side of a hill with a scenic valley falling away to one side. It is just 4.5km away from the main gate to access the National Park and within striking distance of the beautiful Mara River, where the famous crossing of the wildebeest and zebra takes please each year during the migration season.
Each tent has been located to maximise privacy. They are nestled on the side of the hill with an expansive wooden deck, overlooking the Siana Hills. Each tent is 100 square metres of luxury, equipped with all the necessary comforts. Each deck also boasts a sunken hot tub made from local timber to complete your truly amazing experience here.

Serengeti National Park
Overview
A larger scale of luxury based in the northern part of the Serengeti, Sayari has 15 permanent raised-deck tents with wide deck verandas that overlook the bushy scrubland around the camp.
The tents are palatial, with very comfortable beds and a large bath, ideal for sinking into after a great day of sightseeing.
The camp has a rather grand feel to it with spacious decking and intricately decorated areas that you can lounge in and relax when you aren’t out on game drives.
Service is of a high standard and this is definitely one of the most luxurious camps in the North Serengeti.

Overview
Ideally situated right by the famous Grumeti River in the Lobo area of the northern Serengeti, this camp gives you the opportunity to see some fantastic action played out in the natural world. When the migration has continued on their way, the resident animals remain behind and with the river to sustain them they roam the land in great numbers.
The camp has 20 extremely spacious suites, all with a modern colonial decor of dark woods and fine detail making them warm and homely. Each tent has a private 180º decking which allows for some magnificent views of the surrounding Serengeti landscape.
If you fancy getting involved in the vibe of the camp when you aren’t out witnessing nature’s splendours, you can relax in the extremely comfortable split level lounge or for those who want a nice refreshing dip in the midday heat you can make full use of their lovely swimming pool.
If you are intent on seeing the mighty migration, they are present in June/July and return again at the end of October and into November. The Grumeti River is home to huge pods of hippos and crocodiles who are often found basking in the sun when the banks are visible and the water also attracts some great water fowl.

Overview
Lamai Serengeti Lodge has a pride of place up on a kopje overlooking the vast open Serengeti plains towards the Maasai Mara in Kenya. With just 12 delightfully stylish rooms all perched in, around and on top of the rock, you will be extremely well catered for and feel heartened by this little bit of paradise.
Ideally placed to catch sightings of the migration as it attempts to cross the Mara River (July to October), this lodge offers you an experience that is highly sought after in relation to the epic journey of these fantastic beasts. The northern Serengeti, which is where Lamai is perfectly located, is a rather different world to the southern part of the park.
With a continuous supply of lush foliage to munch on, the plains game in this area rarely needs to move on in search for greener pastures. This in turn means that the predators don’t have to leave the sanctuary of their territories to hunt and they remain rather smug in the areas around the lodge.
Although leopards have a larger territorial space to traverse, they don’t need to exhaust themselves and can sometimes be seen elusively stalking among the kopjes that are so typical of this part of the Serengeti.
Not far from the main lodge is a smaller, more private and exclusive lodge which has four rooms and neither lodge has any idea they exist. Each camp has its own pool, dining and lounge areas. Both are classically designed and made to completely fit in with their surroundings. Making use of the rocks they are built on, the rooms are a mix of canvas and more sturdy materials and have spectacular views from on high. Each has its own private viewing deck and veranda for those spectacular sundowners.

Singita Mara River Tented Camp is located on the northern banks of the world-renowned Mara River in the Lamai triangle and is celebrated for its annual wildebeest migration crossings.
The Lamai triangle covers 40,000 hectares (98,000 acres) of the northern most tip of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania, neatly slotted between the Masai Mara National Park in Kenya in the north, and the Mara River in the south.
The Lamai triangle is a unique area of Tanzania due to its distinctive soil composition resulting in one of the highest year round concentrations of wildlife in the Serengeti National Park.

Overview
Just outside the Serengeti National Park in an enormous concession area of 24,500 acres, Klein’s Camp is perched on the edge of the Kuka Hills in the north eastern part of this wonderful ecosystem.
Ten rather tastefully decorated stone cottages offer you a luxurious way to spend your nights in this rugged terrain. With a dash of the old colonial influences touching the edges of the lodge, the luxury experienced here is beautifully coupled with the game experiences.
The private verandas out in front of your cottage give you the chance to simply sit and sip a gin and tonic watching the world go by, with the animals often wondering through into the camp providing special close encounters. The beautifully furnished bar and lounge area is ideal with a good book and if you fancy a refreshing dip then you could always make use of the crystal clear swimming pool.
A variety of landscapes including wide open grasslands, forested riverbanks, wooded hillsides and marshland are home to a whole host of animals and superb birdlife. Elephants love it here and browse the area in their great family herds, mingling between the migratory wildebeest when they arrive each year between July and November.
With the Maasai Mara in the north and the Serengeti to the west, this concession has the best of both worlds as the game traverses through and without the park restrictions, night drives can be enjoyed from this lodge as well as guided bush walks.

Three Days on Safari in the North Serengeti
Spend your days mostly exploring the northern section of the Serengeti on safari tracking the great array of game and wildlife that this vast area offers. If you're there at the right time for the great migration (depending on the season), this is the region where the herds are at their most concentrated because the North Serengeti forms the border with the Famous Maasai Mara of Kenya, and it’s where (if you’re lucky) you’ll see the infamous river crossings. It’s also an area of untamed natural beauty, of rolling hills, rivers, forests and open plains.

Overview
Mnemba, a small island 4.5 kilometres off the north-eastern coast of Zanzibar, is heaven incarnate. Which makes Mnemba Lodge this nirvana’s only resident hotel and a true desert island escape. The lodge is actively involved in various conservation efforts in the region, including monitoring and protecting the small population of very rare Ader’s duikers found here, and carefully taking care of the coastline and ocean.
Ten luxury Zanzabari banda houses are hidden into the island’s Casuarina pine forest whose cooing wild doves and adorable Suni deer make it a very romantic Swiss Robinson world. Each of the bandas are designed to let as much of the outside in with an open plan set out, walls made of coconut matting rolled up to reveal Indian Ocean views, big beds and sofas dressed in plumped-up white linens, handmade furniture, a dressing room, private verandas and an en-suite bathroom. What’s more, apart from the deer and doves the only other people you share the island with are the other guests and staff.
The lodge has enchanted a string of impressive guests from royalty to Silicone Valley tycoons, and it isn’t hard to see why. Dinner is always served on the beach (weather permitting) and both the food and staff are magnificent. Also if you’re afraid you’ll get bored on Mnemba, there’s always the lodge’s good list of activities to sway you: choose from learning how to dive with the lodge’s instructors, to watching turtles nest, fly fishing or kayaking.

Tucked away in the north-east part of Zanzibar Island, you’ll find the serene Matemwe Retreat, a sister property of Matemwe Lodge and Matemwe Beach House.
