Savute Under Canvas

Experience the rich wildlife of the Savute Channel from this authentic mobile safari camp. Changing position every five or six days to be as close as possible to resident game in remote areas, this is a true African safari without forgoing creature comforts.

The camp’s five tents are surprisingly spaces with comfortable double beds, en suite bathrooms with flushing loos and steaming hot outdoor bucket showers, and only a sheet of canvas between your senses and the wilderness outside.

While being within the national park precludes walking or night drives, this varied landscape is rife with animals, and is particularly well known for its high concentration of lions, some of which have adapted to hunting elephant. There are also large clans of hyena, thriving African wild dog packs and a good chance of leopard, roan and sable sightings on expertly guided game drives.

Back a camp, convene around the fire under the stars before a hearty dinner in the open-sided mess tent, listening out for the sounds of nocturnal animals from the bush that surrounds you.
