Itinerary in detail

Every Jacada trip is tailored to your personal preferences and interests. Below you’ll find a sample itinerary to inspire your own custom-designed journey.

Days 1–3

Two nights in Buenos Aires

Your adventure begins in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, the historic home of tango and now to a vibrant modern scene of restaurants, bars and culture. Take a tour through its elegant districts, wander down cobbled alleys and collect stories and anecdotes along the way. You’ll also get to immerse yourself in one of the best tango shows in town.

Spend time relaxing and exploring the city’s wonders. You’ll have our top recommendations for activities, restaurants and shopping so that you can make the most of your time here. We can always organise additional privately guided tours (perhaps focused on history, culture or art) as well as more specialist excursions such as personal shopping trips, wine tasting and tango lessons.

Private city tour

Enjoy a fascinating half-day private tour of the elegant districts that earned Buenos Aires the sobriquet of the Paris of South America. Visit La Boca district in the south and then the charming cobbled alleys of San Telmo. Along to the Plaza de Mayo, up the leafy Avenida de Mayo towards the imposing grandeur of the Palace of Congress and then on to the fascinating Recoleta Cemetery.

Rojo tango show

Enjoy the best tango show in town, set in the exclusive environs of the Faena Hotel. The Rojo tango is the smallest and most stylish of tango salons. Your evening includes soft drinks and alcoholic drinks such as wine and champagne, and transfers to and from the venue.

Days 3–5

Two nights exploring the glacier region around El Calafate

Next, it’s on to the Glacier Region around El Calafate. There are a variety of tours to do in this area, but not to be missed is a private tour of the Perito Moreno Glacier. On the way there, keep your eyes open for wildlife like red and grey foxes, guanaco deer, Patagonian horses and armadillos.

A private tour of the Perito Moreno Glacier

With your private guide and vehicle take the beautiful drive to the Los Glaciares national park. Enjoy the view, including the Corner of Sighs, where you get your first full view of the Glacier. During the drive you might catch a glimpse of red and grey foxes in the heather, cinnamon-coloured guanaco deer on rocky crags and large Patagonian hares leaping from bushes and across streams.

Arriving at the humbling sight of the vast Perito Moreno Glacier, your guide will take you on a tour along the walkways. These give you superb viewpoints and photo taking opportunities while your guide brings to life the environmental and local importance of the glacier.

Days 5–8

Three nights in the Lake District

Explore the wonderfully scenic lakes area, the Argentine Lake District, from one of our selection of luxury lodgings. You can enjoy a variety of activities depending on which property you choose for your stay. Some of the ways you might choose to fill your days include mountain biking, boat trips, guided treks, fishing, skiing or simply enjoying the region’s excellent cuisine.

Days 8–11

Three nights in Mendoza

In the beautiful Mendoza region, you can taste your way through some of the country’s best wines. Spend your time enjoying the natural landscapes, visiting wineries, sampling different restaurants or simply relaxing at your hotel. The breathtaking Andes are your constant backdrop.

Mendoza horse-riding tour

On sunny days beneath blue skies, there are few better ways to slow down and soak up your surroundings than on horseback. Ride through the mountains near Mendoza before sitting down to enjoy a traditional Argentine asado barbecue at El Puesto Ranch.

The Central Valley wineries

The Central Valley or Primera Zona (the closest to the city of Mendoza) includes the counties of Luján de Cuyo, Maipú, Guaymallén and Godoy Cruz. This is the home of Malbec and where some of the most prestigious Argentine wineries are located. On a full-day tour, we suggest mixing tours and tastings at smaller, boutique establishments and larger operations. You’ll stop at one of the top restaurants to savour wine as it is meant to be served; with great food.

Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu Valley

Enjoy a completely tailored and private full-day tour of the best wineries situated in Mendoza’s Lujan de Cuyo and Maipu valleys. This region has an interesting variation of larger to more boutique and family-owned wineries to choose from and at each winery there will be a tour and wine tasting session. Lunch will be at a restaurant or bodega of your choice along the tour, with helpful recommendations made by your guide.

Days 11–13

Gaucho life in the Pampas

The final destination on this epic trip is the sleepy Pampas plains, where you can experience the best of authentic estancia life on a luxurious ranch. Ride out with gauchos, enjoy an afternoon asado (barbecue), spend some time fishing or take your first polo lessons.
