Set a short drive away in the hills away from the Cayo area, Mountain pine ridge is a protected area of Caribbean Pine forest at one of the highest elevations in the country. This unique pine forest area transitions into the broadleaf forest in sections making it particularly abundant in different species of bird and animal. The slightly cooler temperatures due to the elevation here make it an excellent place to take part in more active pursuits such as trekking and mountain-biking.
