The Glacier region is without doubt one of the most beautiful areas of Argentina and for many the highlight of their trip. The Perito Moreno Glacier is the most famous in the park and is one of the few glaciers in the world that is still advancing. The sight (and sound) of watching monumental chunks of glacier ice, split and crash into the water is something to behold.
The nearby town of El Calafate has grown rapidly in recent years to accommodate the influx of tourism to the area. However, though no destination in itself, El Calafate is still a pleasant place to stay with some good restaurants and boutique shops.
Can be visited all year round though some lodges are shut in the colder winter months
