From where the Andean highlands run down to the Pacific coastline, tumbling hills blanketed in exuberant rainforest are home to some of the country’s delicate cloud forests.
In particular the bioregion known as the Chocó (Tumbez-Choco-Darien) which stretches all the way from Panama, through Colombia and Ecuador, possesses some thriving ecosystems relied upon by thousands of species.
What’s more, many don’t typically think of Ecuador when it comes to exploring cloud forests so tours here can feel very unique and delightfully exclusive.
All year round is fine, and temperatures remain constant around 20°c / 68°f.
Virtually unknown, not that far from Quito and there's wildlife galore along with some impressive eco-lodges in which to stay.
