One of only a handful of lodges in this great National Park, Katuma Bush Lodge sits on the edge of the Katigunga Plains and has access to some superb game. With a traditional bush-lodge feel, the main boma sits back into a thicket of trees and palms and looks out over a vast open area where game freely roam. Each of the ten tents are typically designed to fit in with the Katavi surroundings and are raised up on platforms to maximise the views from your private patio area. The large open fire is marvellous for evening chats with other guests about the days sightings which are bound to be magnificent.
A key attraction in this area are the vast numbers of hippo pods that can be found in the rivers. During the dry season they fight for space in an attempt to avoid being sunburnt by the heat of the midday sun. Crocodiles lurk nearby with hopes of a meal and when an injured hippo is snatched up, it makes for a rather remarkable natural spectacle; not for the squeamish! If you want a raw game experience, you will not be disappointed.
