One of the very best eco-lodges in Belize, Chan Chich is in a truly privileged position being in such a large private reserve. The lodge itself is set in the grounds of an ancient Mayan plaza, flanked by the grassy ruins. Extensive trails around the lodge lead to other large ruins as yet unexcavated. Howler and spider monkeys are easy to spot in the trees while birdlife is abundant and this is one of the premier locations in Belize for spotting.
The lodge itself is very comfortable with private bungalows for all guests with king size beds and tasteful wooden furnishings. The deluxe bungalows have extra-large bathrooms with double waterfall showers. There is also a large two-bedroom villa (with private pool) suitable for families or groups of friends.
The lodge has a good screened outdoor pool and a truly excellent restaurant for such a remote location. The guiding is also very good, many of the staff having worked at the lodge for decades rather than years meaning they know every detail of the surrounding nature and wildlife.
