Centre of Ecuadorian craftmanship, Otavalo is a great place to experience traditional Ecuadorian culture. The artisans' market here is world renowned and a great place to find some excellent souvenirs. The city's residents are proud of their culture, many dressing in tradional attire.

The city is located in a beautiful spot nestled between two snow-capped volacanoes a few hours drive north of Quito. There are a number of good Haciendas in the surrounding area which are a great place to stop and relax in the idyllic surrounds as well as enjoying the cultural life of the town.
