Capital of Ecuador, Quito is a city of some history, the old town was the first in the world to be declared a UNESCO world heritage site. There are many beautiful old buildings, plazas and streets to explore with some particularly beautiful old churches among the highlights.

The historic side is just part of the equation with a large more modern city having grown up in and around the more historic areas. Quito has more to offer than simply being a stopping point for exploring further into Ecuador.
